Melanie Boles is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner with nearly two decades of experience caring for patients and families across the cancer care continuum. She brings a deep commitment to compassionate, evidence-based oncology care and has been an integral part of Katmai Oncology Group since 2018. 

Melanie received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she specialized in Family Practice and Palliative Care, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University Montgomery. Throughout her education, she earned multiple academic honors, including membership in Sigma Theta Tau and Omicron Delta Kappa national honor societies.  Before joining Katmai Oncology Group, Melanie worked for over 10 years at the Montgomery Cancer Center, providing comprehensive oncology care for diverse patient populations. Her background also includes clinical instruction for undergraduate nursing students, hospice case management, emergency and inpatient nursing, and family medicine in rural health settings. These experiences shaped her holistic, patient-centered approach, emphasizing clear communication, education, and individualized treatment planning. 

At Katmai Oncology Group, Melanie performs full-scope advanced practice services including physical assessments, diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, medication management, and ongoing supportive care. She values partnering with patients and families to help them understand their diagnosis, navigate treatment, and feel empowered every step of the way.

When she’s not in clinic, Melanie enjoys spending time with her family and embracing the Alaskan outdoors.
