Lorie Petty is a board-certified Adult–Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience caring for patients with complex cancer diagnoses across inpatient, emergency, and outpatient settings. She joined Katmai Oncology Group in 2023 and brings a calm, compassionate approach rooted in clinical excellence and a deep understanding of oncology care.  Lorie began her career at The James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University, one of the nation’s leading comprehensive cancer centers. There, she cared for critically ill oncology patients in the Intensive Care Unit and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit before advancing into emergency oncology and inpatient oncology nurse practitioner roles. In these high-acuity environments, she diagnosed and managed complications of disease progression and treatment, collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams, and guided patients and families through some of the most challenging moments of the cancer journey. 

As a Serious Illness Conversation Program Scholar, Lorie has specialized training in communication excellence, particularly around goals-of-care discussions and end-of-life support. Her ability to blend clinical precision with heartfelt, human-centered care is a hallmark of her practice. 

Lorie completed her Post-Master’s Certificate in Adult–Gerontology Acute Care at The Ohio State University, where she also earned her Master of Science in Clinical Nurse Leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Iowa, giving her a strong foundation in the scientific principles that underpin modern cancer care. 

At Katmai Oncology Group, Lorie provides comprehensive assessments, diagnostic evaluation, symptom management, treatment planning, and patient and family education. She is dedicated to fostering trust, clarity, and partnership with her patients, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.

Outside of the clinic, Lorie enjoys life in Eagle River and all that Alaska’s outdoor community has to offer.
